Introduction

If you smoke, or if you have friends who smoke, you will find information in this book that could change your life or the lives of those you love. Wouldn't you like to discover the real reasons why it's so hard to quit smoking? How can some people quit without cravings, without withdrawals and without gaining weight and others can't stop regardless of how much they want to? I've worked with thousands of smokers who were just like you. Now they're non-smokers.

In addition to having helped thousands of people become non-smokers in my group seminars, I consistently have heavy smokers come into my therapy office and absolutely lose the desire to smoke in as little as three, two or even on session. I use a combination of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Ericksonian Hypnosis and Time Line Therapy.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) studies the effects that mental associations, conditioning and belief systems have on the body. Many people believe they can't quit smoking.... therefore they can't. Based on my experience with thousands of smokers, most of their ideas and beliefs about what causes them to smoke are based upon popular misconceptions, hearsay, false information and myths. These myths, misconceptions and erroneous, outdated ideas have been invalidated by modern findings in neurology and psychology; however, sadly, the general public is typically not privy to the scientific facts and often relies solely on hearsay or outdated and false information. In addition to providing a step-by-step method or reprogramming your habits, I have selected what I consider to be ten of the most popular misconceptions and myths about the behavior of smoking to be included in this book. I call these myths The 10 Lies about smoking.
