Subconscious Reinforcement

Mental Imagery, NLP and Hypnosis


Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), various forms of Mental Imagery, and Ericksonian Hypnosis is what I use with my clients to communicate more easily with their unconscious mind to help them stop smoking, lose weight, eliminate phobias, change bad habits, and for sports and skills enhancement. (Note: the terms "subconscious" and "unconscious" are used interchangeably.) Did you notice how you have been hearing more about NLP and hypnosis lately? There is a reason for this. NLP Practitioners and Hypnotherapists in the 1990’s will be what computer programmers were to the 1970’s. Remember back in the 1970’s?… with the development of computer technology, people began to accomplish things much faster than ever before and they sought out programmers – people who could help them utilize this new technology and information to help them accomplish their goals faster. In the last ten years, there have been equivalent breakthroughs in the development and applications of human technology: Neurology, NLP, Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Psychology, and Neuropsychology.

Psychology, NLP and Hypnosis

I believe NLP is the most important technology that exists in the field of Psychology and human development. Hypnosis is also very important. When I say "hypnosis" do not confuse that with "stage hypnotism". I am talking about clinical hypnotherapy that is taught in institutions of higher education and in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). In my opinion (and experience), the kind of hypnosis that is the most important and most applicable to therapy is Ericksonian Hypnosis. Many institutions offer hypnosis courses as an extension of Psychology. Psychology is the study of human behavior, whereas Hypnosis (and NLP) is the study of the unconscious mind – which controls ALL human behavior. Hypnosis is a huge field of study that goes right to the root of all behavior – the unconscious mind. I want to explain a little about how hypnosis works; because as a tool to help you reach your goal and stop smoking, it is one of the most effective tools that I know.

Whether you come to one of our seminars or work with one of our hypnotherapists, go see your local hypnotherapist or NLP Practitioner, purchase one of our stop smoking hypnosis tapes, or even make your own self-hypnosis tape, it will help you immensely now and in the future to have a basic understanding of the unconscious mind and some of the techniques that are available. All Mental Imagery is a form of hypnotic trance. Most NLP techniques utilize a form of a self-induced hypnotic trance. In fact any time you make internal pictures or sounds in your mind and do a cognitive technique, it is a form of a hypnotic trance. These techniques have become favorite tools of successful men and women who know the value of being able to get the results they want in their lives by enrolling the support of their unconscious minds. They understand that using your unconscious mind is the fastest way known to change habits and achieve goals.

The fast easy way

I like to use the example of learning to play tennis or golf. If you wanted to learn to play tennis, for example, you could go out the knock the ball around and eventually learn to hit it over the net. But if you wanted to learn fast, what would you do? You would take lessons, right? And then someone with the experience you don’t yet have can help you reach your goal much quicker, much easier, with less hassle and less inconvenience. That is what we do in our seminars for people that are successful and use their time wisely. Rather than go about it (re-programming your habits) the long hard way, they would rather do it quickly and easily, like taking a tennis lesson; that is why programs such as these are so popular.

You may find that after you read the information presented in this book, if you use the techniques suggested and integrate the information at an unconscious level, you may be surprised to discover that those resources you need easily be a non-smoker are now available for you at an unconscious level. You may be delighted to discover how easy it is, now with these new resources, to simply change your habits and watch the desire to smoke be replaced by a desire to be a non-smoker. I highly recommend using a Stop Smoking alpha programming tape daily to accomplish the change more quickly and to reinforce the changes to make them permanent.
